OUR CREATIVE TALENT
Building local voluntary and amateur arts participation
The Department for Culture, Media and Sport, Arts Council
England and Voluntary Arts England invite you to take part in a major national conference on local arts participation and voluntary and amateur groups.
Participation in the arts makes a powerful contribution to local communities. This year marks the introduction of National Indicator 11 on engagement in the arts and for the first time levels of arts engagement will be measured at local authority level across England.
The conference will launch landmark new research, commissioned by DCMS and Arts Council, looking in detail for the first time at the size, make-up and impact of the voluntary arts sector and its potential for growth. It will also look at the role local voluntary and amateur arts groups can play in building local arts engagement and how to create effective partnerships for delivery.
Keynote speakers include:
Chief Executive, Arts Council England
Rt Hon Margaret Hodge MP
Minister for Culture
David Lammy MP
Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Skills,
Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills
Chief Executive, British Music Rights
Chief Executive, Voluntary Arts Network
Breakout sessions will look at how local arts groups can take part in the Cultural Olympiad, how to engage new participants in the arts and new data on patterns of local participation.
The event will be of key interest to policy formers, decision makers and senior personnel from local authorities, voluntary, community and charitable organisations.
There will be a reception at the Barbican, hosted by the Carnegie (UK) Trust, on the evening of 1 July. This event will include the launch of the Voluntary Arts England publication Edutainment and all conference delegates are invited to attend.
Attendance at the conference and evening reception is free, but spaces are limited.
