Art of Life - Call for artists
WHO: Herefordshire Council Arts Service in partnership with Adult Social Care are seeking three artists from different disciplines to deliver a programme of art sessions at Canal Road Day Centre, Hereford. The artists should be experienced in working with people with learning disabilities and/or physical disabilities to plan and deliver arts sessions for the ART OF LIFE project.
WHAT: The artist’s main role is to motivate people and help them to explore how to be able to deal with change through taking part in stimulating arts activity, which also helps to increase feelings of confidence. Arts sessions will explore the themes of: Identity/Body Image, Self Esteem and Health. Sessions will start and run three times per week for a period of 12 weeks.
WHERE: Canal Road is a day centre in Hereford serving adults with physical and/or learning disabilities from across Herefordshire. Canal Road has an expansive arts room and an adjoining fully equipped woodworking room.
WHEN: Arts sessions are expected to take place between October 2008 and January 2009, with an opportunity to visit Canal Road in August and a final evaluation report and Celebration Event held in February 2009 (date TBC).
FEE: Total fee for each artist is £3650 with a further £350 (maximum amount) allocated to materials. Travel expenses and any other expenses are included in the total fee.
TO APPLY: Artists should send a C.V. including contacts for 2 referees, state availability from September 2008 – January 2009 if possible, 10 images of work including any which relate to this type of project, press releases if applicable and a short statement (max 100 words) about why they are interested in the project. Evidence of enhanced disclosure will be required from selected artists. Interviews will take place on Wednesday 30 July.
